Dartford is a diverse and exciting place to work with excellent opportunities created by a challenging and varied workload. This is a role for someone who likes to problem solve and takes pride in protecting the environment and public health.

We are looking for either a professional, competent and enthusiastic Food Safety Officer or someone who is training to be a Food Safety Officer and requires practical training.

The Food Safety Officer will have a thorough knowledge of food hygiene legislation and can work towards managing a demanding and varied inspection caseload. You will be joining a friendly, busy and professional team.

Individuals working towards the qualification will be supported with the training/experience required to complete the logbook/portfolio and professional exams to become a Registered Food Safety Officer with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. This is an opportunity to gain your professional qualifications and experience whilst being fully employed.

Candidates for the Food safety Officer post must have gained a Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection or the Higher Certificate in Food Control. For the Trainee post, we would expect you to be working towards these qualifications.

With a desire to provide the best possible customer service, you will be able to work with minimum supervision and keen to contribute proactively to the strong team-working ethos. An ability to keep accurate records and be able to produce reports, gather legal evidence and produce legal case files is essential.

Those working towards the completion of their professional qualifications will be subject to a two-year contract, and upon the successful completion of your Logbook or Portfolio and Professional Discussion, you will be welcome to apply for any vacant Food Safety Officer post available at the time.

A full driving licence and access to your own car is required for this post (mileage paid).

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Shona McQuade, Team Manager – Commercial Team 01322 343337 or email [email protected]
